The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) and B’nai B’rith Australia/New Zealand (BBANZ) have expressed their horror and outrage at the terrorist attack in the West Bank which killed husband and wife Eitam and Na’ama Henkin. Their four boys, aged 9, 7, 4, and four months, who saw their parents shot dead in front of them, were unhurt. The Abdel Qader al-Husseini Brigades, an armed unit within Fatah, which is headed by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, claimed responsibility for the murder. The group released a statement which read: “With Allah’s help and in keeping with our right for resistance and our duty to sacred jihad, our forces on Thursday night carried out a necessary action in which they fired on a car of occupying settlers that left the settlement of Itamar, built on Palestinian lands in the south of the city of Hebron. They fired on the car and killed the settler and his partner.”
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, and Morris Tobias, President of BBANZ issued the following statement:
“There are no words to describe how heartbroken and outraged we are by today’s senseless murder. This brutality is beyond comprehension. It once again shows that the enemies of Israel know no bounds in their bloodlust. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Henkin family and with their children whose anguish and suffering is unimaginable and whose lives have been scarred forever. This sickening attack is a result of the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incitement so prevalent in Palestinian society which glorifies and celebrates terrorists and violence. We hope that Israel will speedily apprehended the perpetrators of this despicable crime and bring them to justice. We call on the international Community to swiftly and unambiguously stand together against those who would support the perpetuation of such an evil act and demand that the leadership of the Palestinian Authority stop the ongoing incitement against Israel.”
