The ADC’s Multi-faith Future Leaders Program (MFFLP) recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a gathering of young leaders from varying religious and ethnic backgrounds. These future leaders came together for a full day of conversations, breaking down barriers, sharing stories, active listening and friendship building activities.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement
“One of the ADC’s principal aims is to build bridges of communication with a diverse range of faith and ethnic groups, and we do so through intercultural efforts that create avenues of understanding and dialogue such as the MFFLP. Over the last 10 years, The MFFLP has had a tremendous track record of championing mutual respect, nurturing intergroup relationships, and bringing future leaders to the table to promote greater collaboration and partnerships. Graduates of the program have not only become ambassadors for the values of the ADC and a multicultural Australia, but have returned to their respective communities with a better understanding of Judaism and other faiths, having realised the importance of celebrating difference. They have become pivotal vehicles of education and transformation within their own circles and are the voices of reason when incidents of misunderstanding or prejudice occur. In effect, this means that the Jewish community and other religious communities will stand up for each other in testing times and will champion the idea that diversity is strength and that we can all do our part by speaking out against bigotry.”
