The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission has decried an act of anti-Semitic vandalism against The Broken Hill Synagogue in Broken Hill. According to reports, Nazi and Islamic symbols were spray painted on the front of the building.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, issued the following statement:
“I am extremely troubled by this cowardly and despicable attack on a Jewish place of worship, meant to intimidate, harass and threaten. Such hate has no place in Australia and runs counter to our country’s values of acceptance and respect for all faiths. Anytime a synagogue or a house of worship is vandalised, there is a chilling emotional damage to community members and we condemn all such incidents in the strongest terms. The ADC encourages anyone with information about this incident to come forward, and it is our hope that the perpetrators of this anti-Semitic crime will be swiftly brought to justice.”
